Assessment

Each term children undertake a variety of assessments. Some of these are formal tests while others are an informal classroom based activity that the teacher will assess.

Children regularly undertake assessments from Cornerstones (Reading and GPS) and White Rose (Maths) at the end of a term. These help teachers identify areas of learning that need further coverage in lessons.

Writing is assessed by the class teacher through ‘warm and hot’ tasks set during lessons. These tasks help the teacher to measure children's progress and identify areas for development. We regularly moderate our teacher judgements with other local schools and others within our Trust.

All other subjects are assessed using teacher judgement. Teachers use a wide range of evidence including work in books, conversations with pupils, mini quizzes and participation in class or group discussions to assess if a child is meeting, exceeding or working below age related expectations.
