Assessment
Each term children undertake a variety of assessments. Some of these will be formal tests, others will be informal classroom based activity that the teacher will assess.
Children regularly undertake PiXL assessments in the core subjects. These help teachers identify areas of learning that need further coverage in lessons.
Writing is assessed by the class teacher through 'hot and cold' tasks set during lessons. These tasks help the teacher to measure children's progress and identify areas for development. We regularly moderate our teacher judgements with other local schools and others within our Trust.
Other subjects, along with RE are assessed using teacher judgement. Teachers use a wide range of evidence including work in books, conversations with pupils, and participation in class or group discussions to assess if a child is meeting, exceeding or working below age related expectations.
